Get Fallout Shelter on PC Today!

Instead of playing Fallout Shelter on PC via Android emulator, you can now get the official version for PC! The Fallout Shelter PC version and the big mobile update were announced earlier this year, at E3, during the publisher's briefing.

So, Fallout Shelter has finally arrived on PC. All you need is Bethesda.Net Launcher. From there, you need to create a Bethesda.net account (if you don't have one already). Once you logged in, two programs are available from the top left of the launcher; the Fallout 4 Creation Kit, and, just below it -- Fallout Shelter. Don't mind my screenshot, showing three programs.

Fallout Shelter Minimum PC System Requirements

CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q9550 @2.83GHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1GHz / RADEON HD 6970 1GHz
RAM: 2 GB
HDD: 2 GB
OS: Win 7 64-bit

Although, the minimum PC specs are as provided above, Fallout Shelter PC version works just fine on some older dual core PCs (I.e. AMD E-300 dual-core @ 1.3 GHz). If you have an old Win 7 64-bit PC, be sure to give Fallout Shelter a try. As our Facebook page fan, Kenny Eisenhower would say -- No lag whatsoever. Thanks for this useful information Kenny, I'm sure many will appreciate it.

Fallout Shelter PC version is a free game that also offers microtransactions.

If you want to know more about Fallout Shelter, check our Fallout Shelter portal.

*UPDATE: you can use your save from Android version of Fallout Shelter. Copy the .sav file from Internal Storage/Android/com.bethsoft.falloutshelter/file/ to My Document/My Games/Fallout Shelter. Thanks to Ananda Krishna, our Facebook page fan for sharing this useful information.

Bethesda is Ready for a Fallout Movie

Although the film adaptation of the popular post-apocalyptic RPG franchise, Fallout, is not currently in production, it may happen according to Todd Howard.

Todd recently confessed he isn't totally against the Fallout Movie idea in an interview with GI.biz, adding "We've had a couple of inroads, particularly with Fallout, which is a bit stickier than Elder Scrolls, but everybody's kind of asked and I've taken a number of [Fallout movie pitch] meetings over the years and nothing quite clicked where I felt, 'Oh, that would be as good as the game."

According to Howard, making a film based in the apocalyptic setting of Fallout risks potentially influencing fan opinions of the games in a negative way.

Personally, I think Bethesda is preparing for the right offer, and The Fallout 4's Wanderer Trailer is their take on something like that, just to see how fans would react to it. Or even better, they might be already working with some studio for some time now. If you remember Todd's appearance on E3 2015, when Bethesda announced Fallout 4, he admitted that Fallout Shelter is hinted in Fallout 3's Trailer. Check it below, to remind yourself;

Bethesda is well known at hinting various things in details of the trailers and even the games itself. Cinema Blend has an interesting article called "Fallout 4 Live-Action Trailer Is Probably The Closest We'll Get To A Movie", and all I'm asking is why? Why create a Live-Action Trailer in a first place? There's a reason to that, trust me.
"And that may happen. I don't rule it out, but nothing really has clicked where - the games are popular enough and that's their identity." ~ Todd Howard

What's New in The Wasteland (Fallout 4 E3 Highlights)

Fallout 4 #BE3 Showcase Highlights

Since New Vegas, Fallout fans have patiently awaited the next piece in the franchise, in hopes of more wasteland fun in bigger and "badder" ways. After years of silence, and a rather surprise announcement, Bethesda Game Studios has given unto the mass Fallout 4, which seems to be the largest, most ambitious title of the IP yet. On June 14th, during E3, much was shown of what they had to offer within the game. Many new features were added, and many favorites have been brought back, tweaked and improved for the new game. Here are some of the key features which were highlighted during the E3 presentation and some speculation from watching.

A Voiced Character

A first for any Bethesda RPG, Fallout 4 will feature a voiced player character, for either male or female. Finally, a voice is put to the mute hero of the wasteland, but this isn’t the only voicing miracle added to Fallout 4.

Todd Howard revealed that over thousand of the most common names (not known how many female and male) have been recorded for the players robot, Codsworth, to address the player as. This is monumental. Though it’s only one character, the ability for you to hear your name in the game makes for a far better immersion experience.

Pip-Boy

With a new game comes a new Pip-Boy, the wrist-worn companion of Fallout. The new Pip-Boy is much more interactive and immersive, with all onscreen items and Vault Boys animated (as far as we can tell). The Pip-Boy also adds game tapes, a rather gimmicky, yet none the less amazing addition to the game.

In addition to the improvements, many a fanboy's dream has been answered. With the Collector’s Edition comes a fully functional, smartphone powered Pip-Boy replica. A second screen companion app will allow you to use your phone, with or without the Replica case, as your in-game Pip-Boy.

Crafting

One of the biggest features, and in my opinion, the most exciting, is the insane amounts of customization and crafting added to the game. First things shown was the settlement and base building features, which seemed very Minecraft-esque. Bethesda seems to have tested the waters in base crafting with the Hearthfire DLC for Elder Scrolls: Skyrim. While it was executed decently there, it seems they’ve stepped up their game, a lot. You’ll be able to set up multiple settlements, set up defense systems, and even create pixel art through the powered generators available in crafting.

Bethesda RPGs have always allowed one to grab literally object in the game, though before much of it was useless junk which clogged the inventory and brought Encumbrance to the unwise adventurer and wastelander. That is no longer the case in Fallout 4. Every item has a purpose through crafting. The material is obtained through scrapping the many items found scattered across the wasteland.

Todd Howard stated during the E3 presentation that there is over 50 base weapons, and over 700 modifications and add-ons. That leads to thousands upon thousands of customization options for your personal arsenal in the wasteland. It was even seen you could name your custom weapons.

Man’s Best Friend

Dogs are one of the only creatures, besides humans (for the most part) which survived with minimal radiation present in the Fallout Universe, excluding cyborg dogs such as Rex. your furry friend took the spotlight in the first announce Trailer, and even more was revealed about them during E3. It’s unknown at this time if he can act as your personal pack mule, as Rex and other companions could mainly within Fallout: New Vegas, but commanding your dog to fetch items within the world was demonstrated. All one needs is to point in the world, and the dog shall obey.

Power Armor

Though not directly addressed in the E3 presentation, power armor seems to have undergone a bit of a revamp. Aside from the crafting treatment much of the rest of the game has been given, allowing you to customize your power armor to your heart's desire, the armor seem to be much more valuable. A new HUD was shown for the power armor, and new features, such as a jet pack. It seems like one will no longer be able to use the armor willy nilly, as some things might make it balance out in power, such as decreased speed. Hopefully more is seen in time.

Conclusion

With so much to offer, Fallout 4 seems to be one of the best games of the year, and definitely a sure favorite for the fans. We won’t have to wait much longer, though, to explore the wastelands once more, as the game will be released November 10th of this year. Until then, while we all sit and wait, to emerge from the Vault 111, check the Fallout 4 Demo Showcase below!

Fallout 4: The 15 best Screenshots from Bethesda's Trailer

To celebrate the Fallout 4 announcement, we have a few of the best screens from Fallout 4's announcement trailer (check below so you can watch it a second, or a third, or even sixth time), which shows the title's post-apocalyptic world, game setting, creatures, and much more. Click on any one of them for a 1080p and 720p version. There's not necessarily anything new to glean from these images, but they're higher quality than grabbing screenshots of the paused video.

Fallout 4 Wishlist

Loading...
While waiting for E3 2015 in June, and hoping what everyone else is (at least Fallout fans) - we can at least put some constructive discussion about what we would like to see in the next Fallout installment, aka Fallout 4. We already put our thoughts about why the next 10 years of Fallout will smash the last 10, and there you can see our point of view about the time and depth, when new Fallout game kicks in. Our sister website - RPG Gamer already did their Fallout 4 Wishlist and you can check on that also. One good thing about adminning a Vault-Tec page is - we do a lot of research with our fans and that put us in a slightly better understanding about how the real Fallout fans are thinking. Anyways, that's what Vault-Tec is all about - to do scientific researches on you - innocent people, who are not even aware of what's really happening out there.. ;)

Here is what we would like to see in Fallout 4 (if that's what is going to be called), and what did you say about some of them.

Drivable Vehicles

In Fallout 2, we had a drivable car which, in terms of the impact on the game, did only a speed-up the fast traveling and you could use more storage to put your belongings into the trunk. BUT, for that "little" touch, you had to work your ass really hard to even get it functional in the first place. Then some jerk stole it from you in New Reno.. God, how mad I was. But aside Fallout 2, your thoughts were pretty mixed about the cars. Most of you did agree, however, that some drivable means of transportation should exist in the next Fallout installment. It could be a bike, train, horse, camel, buggy, whatever - your point was pretty clear: there should be drivable vehicles in Fallout 4.

You can check and comment your thoughts on Google+ and Facebook posts about drivable vehicles in next Fallout game.

House Builder/Editor (of a sort)

We then asked you would you like to have some sort of a "house builder/editor" in the next Fallout installment - to be able to build a house from scratch, the way you want. Of course, a lot of mixed opinions were made about this - from "we don't want Sims Fallout game" to "Yes, for an RPG game it would be awesome" and "HELL YESSSSSSSSS FREAKING EPIC!!!!!!!! DO IT! NOW!!" You also confirmed our "theory" that there should be some sort of house builder, but only if done right. To be able to build a shack, house, or even to "fortress" an existing house from the various junk found in the wasteland - that would be just another special touch that would add nothing but more realistic feel to the game. Definitely something we would love to see in Fallout 4.

You can check and comment your thoughts on Google+ and Facebook posts about House Builder / Editor in next Fallout game.

Weapon and Armor Customization

I think we can all agree that we need to give our characters some special touch of our own. I do think, however, it would be very hard for Devs to do this one, at least to do it right. And it all depends on the game "realism mechanics" itself. For example; You find a marker, and by some strange faith that marker works, you then write your dog's name on your helmet, because you love your dog so much. But then, the rain drops down and wash it away.. Bad luck. And then again, if you are very lucky to find a water-proof marker, your problem with water ends. That's just a basic example, there are also lots of world objects that could be usable to reinforce (decorate) your armor with. Traffic signs, plates, tires, cans, spikes, etc.. Also, with enough skill points, you could build your own weapons, with your own specific decoration in mind.

For us, this is also a thing that would be neat in next Fallout installment. You can leave your thoughts about weapon and armor customization on our Fallout 4 wish list post on Google+ and Facebook.

Different Races

While it would be nice to play in the world of Fallout as a Ghoul or even Super Mutant, and it might be easy to implement this "feature" to games like Skyrim (along with all the other RPG games), for Fallout it may not be as simple as that. Why is that? Let's just say, that in EVERY Fallout game (except 2 and New Vegas), you start your adventure from the Vault. The thing about all of that is the same - unknown world that awaits you out there. That "card" the Devs played for a reason. Even Fallout: New Vegas had a similar card (you lost your memory while being shot in the head). Fallout wouldn't be Fallout if it weren't for that card. Now, it is easy to start the game story as a human, but if you have to change the race, that would mean a whole different story from the beginning. You can't simply start your game as a ghoul in a Vault of humans and any other way around. This could work only if you start your game outside the Vault, but that's hardly going to be a case with Fallout 4.

As "logical" may sound for new Fallout game to have a race selection other than human, I highly doubt we will see that. And I hope I'm very wrong about it! You can leave your thoughts about different races on our Fallout 4 Wishlist post on Google+ and Facebook.

Other Miscellaneous

Other things would be (of course) bigger map, better weapon and armor mechanics for both, use and repair, refined hardcore mode, better dialog cinematic, various weapon mounts, no loading screens anywhere in game (if The Witcher 3 can do it...), no invisible walls and I think we're all set. With all of this featured above and, of course, next-gen graphics and game physics, with story so non-linear and deep in Fallout 4, I think we would get the best Fallout game ever, another Game of the Year and Bestseller title that would feed the gamers around the world for a long, long time. That would explain all the waiting we are forced for so long. No Witcher 3 could compare with Fallout 4 despite it has 30+ possible endings. But then again, it's fan's talking.

While waiting for the "big announcement" from Bethesda at E3 2015 in June, we can put some constructive opinions about what we would love to see in the next Fallout installment. Feel free to comment on anything you would love (hope) to see in Fallout 4 on Google+ and Facebook post. Thanks to all the fans that have been our test subjects for so long as well!

Why the Next 10 Years of Fallout Will Smash the Last 10

Loading...
It is only logical way to think that in the next 10 years we will deeply enjoy Fallout 4. Let's remember the facts from the past; Original Fallout game came out back in 1997, Fallout 2 the next year, in 1998, and spin-off Fallout: Tactics came out in 2001. So, we "old" Fallout gamers enjoyed Fallout for more than 10 years until we finally got the new-gen sequel Fallout 3.. I know not many will agree, but New Vegas is actually another spin-off, no matter it is more similar to original Fallout games and it should be the true sequel to Fallout 2. So, when we can expect Fallout 4? In *2018! 10 years after Fallout 3 came out.. In my opinion, it will be worth of waiting as it was worth to wait for Fallout 3 for 10 years. It will also be the next-gen game and it will rock our world.

One of many popular memes about Fallout 4
When it comes to announcement, it could happen very soon, at VGX 2014, but I wouldn't get my hopes too high. Geoff Keighley, the executive producer of VGX, stated that he had a “great night planning with the ladies who run Bethesda,” hinting the possibility of a major game announcement. If Fallout 4 gets announced at VGX 2014, then we can expect it to come out in late 2015 / 2016, but as I said, I wouldn't get my hopes high. Bethesda also recently filed the trademark for Pip-Boy, but to me, it is something that should have been done in years before, and I don't think it has anything with hinting a possible Fallout 4 announcement. Let's just remember that there have been numerous hoaxes and speculations about the game, though officially there is no word yet.

FALLOUT 4 GOTY

To get back on the topic, the next 10 years of Fallout will smash the last 10 simply because we will get Fallout 4 eventually, and it will be the next GOTY, a game of epic proportions, just like it was Fallout 3 compared to Fallout 2 (I don't mean the story). It will be next-gen and that means the developer will be looking to improve the gaming experience by releasing it for next-gen consoles and PC only, with better graphics, processing power, detailed environment, immersive feel, and even with a deeper plot. According to a report by JBG News, this will lend a sense of morality to the game character. It opines that the developer could "exploit the idea of morality and use it as a driving force behind Fallout 4, intensifying the player's attention to detail and wanting to right (or wrong) things."

* Shots fired.
