Josh Sawyer, the lead designer of FNV talks about Fallout 4

Josh Sawyer, the lead designer and project director of Fallout: New Vegas has detailed with a list of what he wants in Fallout 4. He was speaking in an interview to Eurogamer.
Sharing his views about the upcoming Fallout 4 which he believes is under development, Josh said,
“I expect the new game to be vigorous on the players in terms of making choices. When you live in a post -apocalyptic world where everything is destroyed and survival is important, everything that you do will bring about a change. Some games in modern times are quite easy to play but that shouldn’t make-up the entire title because it is supposed to be demanding.”
Sawyer believes that it is the choices that in the game that makes the series more exiting. And the choices he is speaking are something that can irritate a player which he calls it 'agonising.' He thinks that it is these kinds of choices that fit perfectly in a post-apocalyptic setting of Fallout series. He also adds that these choices must not be something in black and white.
"Fallout games are best when the choices are - and this applies to role-playing games in general, but Fallout is a more desperate world - more agonising. They feel more appropriate to the post-apocalyptic genre. So I hope that whatever twists and turns the story takes, it's more nuanced than a black-and-white choice,"
He gives the example of Fallout 1, where the protagonist even after saving the Vault was not able to live with the Vault dwellers.
"There's that kind of bitter-sweet victory in the difficult choices that people make. Regardless of what the setting is, I would hope that is a big part of the storytelling of it"
He says giving the example of Mad Max movies where Max, the protagonist, even after winning becomes a wanderer. He further explained how he worked in Fallout: New Vegas where he saw to it that all the choices that players made were like a challenge to the player and were meaningful. He also said that he likes the game to be more challenging and also said that players too wanted it to be so.
"A lot of stuff I did in New Vegas was to try and make choices feel more impactful and meaningful and to challenge the player, some people want to go through the wasteland like a tourist, which is fine - they don't really want it to be super-difficult. They want it to be interesting and engaging, and they want to see a lot of neat stuff and go through a cool story. And that's cool, personally I like things to be a little more challenging and there's a segment of players that also want [that]. I don't have any doubt in this," he revealed.
He further hoped that Bethesda continues to support the modder community and termed this support as "really cool." In the mean time, few days ago, Amazon has listed a yet to be announced Bethesda title that it has put out as a placeholder. This listing appeared on Amazon UK, reported Videogamer.

Bethesda announced a year ago that they are working on a new project which will be their next big title. After releasing Skyrim for the Elder Scroll series, it is most likely to be the anticipated Fallout 4 but the company has not confirmed any such details. Some rumors including the storyline being set in Boston are true. The game will not be shown during E3 2014 and eager fans should wait a bit longer before they decide to open up about their upcoming title. What do you think about their next big title, is it going to be Fallout 4 or not?!
