Weekly Overview in Fallout Gamers World

At the end of the week, the VTi team scan their memory banks to identify the incontrovertibly best and worst moments of the last week. Then, when confronted with the sum total of human ecstasy and misery, they write about Fallout gaming instead.. This week's news in case you've missed something, enjoy!

The Most Popular Fallout 3 Armor ModsDRAGONSKIN TACTICAL OUTFIT BY ANTISTAR - The Dragonskin Tactical Outfit mod actually adds a selection of the titular outfits - in different colours and camo patterns - to the Wasteland. It is loosely based on the real Dragon Skin body armour apparently in use today by SWAT teams, Secret Service and other elite military personnel. During testing this armour withstood multiple assault rifle bullet impacts and even point-blank hand grenade blasts.

Most Popular Fallout New Vegas Armor Mods
REINFORCED CHINESE STEALTH SUIT - NV BY GAIJUNE - "RCSS" adds a reinforced version of the Chinese Stealth Suit to the Mojave Wasteland. This mod implements a powered-up version of the Latexy Chinese Stealth Suit that resembles the likes of a popular futuristic Ninja. Peruse the images tab for a visual reference. East of the Abandoned Brotherhood of Steel Bunker, on the far east side of the map, and south of the Hoover Dam, you'll find a "Mysterious Nook" near a cache of Lakelurk eggs.

The Most Popular Building Mods for Fallout: New Vegas
NEW VEGAS RESTORATION - NVR BY THE NVR TEAM - The whole point of this on - going mod is to create a Strip that reminds us that there is still some good in the wasteland. By removing the trash, repairing the buildings, and adding more life to the Strip, our goal can be achieved. The NVR Team is working very hard to create the Strip we all want! This mod cleans up the Strip by removing trash, repairing roads, buildings, and making the Strip a better place to be.

Birth of New California Republic
While you all know by now that the New California Republic is a fairly large, democratic federation based in California, I think not many of you know a story of how the NCR got to the point where it is in Fallout: New Vegas. The New California Republic was born out of the remnants of the survivors of Vault 15, that opened earlier and released its occupants out onto the wasteland. Vault 15 was once occupied by an enormous number of people of very different ideologies and cultures. The overcrowding and the diversification led to the leaving of four different groups, three of them forming each one raiding group - the Khans, the Vipers and the Jackals - and one of them settling down and founding Shady Sands.

The Most Popular Fallout 3 Model and Texture Mods
NMCS_TEXTURE_PACK_FOR_FO3 BY NEILMC_NMC - What This Mod Does: It changes the vast majority of in-game graphics. The DLC is not re-textured with this mod, it covers Fallout 3. It still works if you have the DLC installed but the textures in the DLC will be the ones that shipped with the original game (unless textures in the DLC are re-used from the Fallout game).

Fallout: New Vegas most popular gameplay effects and changes
ELECTRO CITY - RELIGHTING THE WASTELAND BY MYGOODEYE - I'm aiming for "plausible", not necessarily "realistic"... after all, how "realistic" are laser-guns, 6 foot fire-breathing ants and Super Mutants? It's my personal feeling that some 300 years after a nuclear war it would only make sense that a society accustomed to electric lighting would strive to return to - and supersede - the past. Even today, in "real-life", we have CFC light bulbs that require a fraction of the power of traditional incandescent bulbs to generate even more light.

Let's talk about: Fallout 3 DLC
Downloadable content is a rather contentious issue, ya know? People are very split on it for some reason. The argument for dictates that through DLC you have a way to go back and continue to enjoy an experience without paying full price for it. The argument against says that more often than not the content provided should have been free, and that DLC's are just a way greedy developers can nickle and dime their fans. While I can certainly see both sides, and there are times when the latter is true, never has the former been more apparent than with the Fallout DLC's.

Fallout 2 - Cut Content
You really need to get out more. Your sexual exploits have been...well, two dimensional. Description for Virgin of the Wastes, a cut reputation title in Fallout 2. For unknown reasons, the Virgin of the Wastes title was cut in the final game, yet is still present in the game files and it's possible to add it via a save editor. The Chosen One would begin the game with this reputation, which can be lost by sleeping one time with any sex-specific characters. This title would however, had no effect in-game. Cut content refers to content in Fallout 2 which was cut from the final version of the game. Some of it can still be found in the game files but is inaccessible within the game itself.
